Japanese Govern.

Applicants must be at least seventeen years and less than twenty-two years of age. The awards are tenable for five years including preliminary instruction in the Japanese language and other subjects (one year course) given immediately after arrival in Japan. Grantees will receive a monthly allowance of 138,500 yen (in FY 1992) for the term of his/her scholarship, a return ticket, tuition exemption, and accommodation. Some conditions apply.
The Japanese diplomatic missions abroad will, in cooperation with the foreign governments concerned, select preliminary candidates from among applicants by means of an interview and academic examination and a review of the submitted documents.
